Hacklebarney State Park is a prime 465-acre location to fish, hike, or picnic. However, in the 19th century, this land was used as a iron ore site. At this park, you can find rare and endangered plant species (American ginseng, leatherwood and Virginia pennywort), animals (black bears, woodchucks, deer, and fox), and has numerous fish, mainly trout, within the brooks feeding into the Black River.
